Parrots with dull feathers, sad wallabys and antilopes running in 3 meter circles... the Antarcadero Zoo is a depressing experience (except maby for the 60 year old giant turtle moaning on top of his tiny lady...). San Luis Obispo however is a great young town. Clean streets with modern stores and restaurants, a paradise for window-shoppers and gourmets! We only had lunch there but it quickly became one of our favourite places in this country.
We actually planned to get a bit closer to Los Angeles, this being our last night before we have to return our Susan, but only a few miles south of San Luis Obispo, Syl noticed that she could see the beach, meaning no fogg, just plain sunshine! As much of a pain as Indians might be, when they stay at your hotel, as much I love it, when we find an Indian motel owner: 'Very special discount rates' are always available (if we don't mention that we are from Switzerland of course) and they get even better after a little bit of bargening. This time we even got a surprisingly clean and new room, just a few minutes walking distance from the beach. It's still not hot enough to swim, but we went for a walk wearing only a light jacket, watched the sunset, had some award-winning Clam Chowder and simply are happy.
