We decided we would try to fit in with the rest of the people on the beach....so we decided to take some surfing lessons! And as we soon found out, lessons were a must. Let's just say that surfing is a lot easier said than done.

The first group to go was Taylor, Justin (the Jenkin's cousin), Kennedy, and I (Erin). We headed over to the surf shack just down the road from where we are styaing. We ended up having 2 teachers for the four of us which worked out nicely as we needed all the help we could get!
All decked out in our surf wear --consisting of rash guards and surfer shorts, looking like pros (looks can be deceiving..) we headed down to the ocean.

We got a quick de-brief in the sand telling us how to get up on the surf board and all those little details that couldn't possibly be that important......wrong. surfing, as i soon found out, involves many little steps, each with equal importance and that will in the end ensure your overall success of standing up and surfing. I attempted to follow all the little rules like, "don't stand too far forward, turn your foot to the right, bend...squat...ERIN BEND YOUR KNEES! YOU ARE TALL ERIN, YOU NEED TO BEND YOUR KNEES!" Yeah i heard that one alot haha.

The lesson was a hour and a half long and by the end of we were all exhausted. I'd say we all managed to stand up on the board for a solid 3 seconds each.

All in all it was a great life experience...just don't expect to be seeing me in the Olympics or anything of that sort.
