This weekend I didn't actually go spelunking, but Victor did take Philip, Kat, Dianne, and me up into the mountains to take a cave tour.
We first stopped in a small mountain town for lunch of which the name of escapes me. Victor and Philip showed us ladies how real men skip rocks. Dianne and I had forgot to grab sandwiches, but in town we found an open bakery and bought some fresh bread. Yum, lunch the true French way!
We continued further up the mountain until we reached the cave. Our group consisted of the five of us, a French couple, and a very friendly tour guide. The cave was really awesome! I learned that in a century a stalagmite only grows two inches....and some of them are 8 feet long! We also saw some cave salamanders in captivity...they are truly disgusting creatures! They have evolved to have no eyes and no pigmentation.
After a day in the mountains we went back to Grenoble for dinner. We went to an Italian place under the Bastille and had some yummy pizza! Good weekend.

Re: pictures
Tres bon!
Sounds like fun!
And why are the salamanders disgusting -- just because they don't have eyes? I would expect you to be more accepting of diversity.
What is the French word for spelunking?
