We flew into Reykjavik airport in the early hours of the morning. You would never have guessed that it was 1 in the morning. It was still daylight here. So we caught the bus into town to get our room. First impressions were that the place smelt, but this was due to everything being heated geothermically. Naturally heated hot water. It was awesome. Managed a couple hours of sleep. Once up, we walked into town to have a look around. Saw the sculpture of the Viking ship in the harbour. It was like an upside down prawn ????? Very different. Went into the centre and had a walk around. It was quite small for a capital. Everything seemed to be made out of corrugated iron and was all drab and grey. We made our way up to the top of one of the hills in town and found the church, which you could catch, an elevator to the top. From the outside of the church, the look of it was out there, and once up the top, Reykjavik changed. It was not drab and grey, but a multitude of colours were exploding from the buildings. Once down, we decided to be slack and book a couple of tours to see the sights. We saw the old extinct volcanoes and the tectonic plates where the guide said that this was where the first ever government in the world was set up. Also went to Geysir. This is where the old blowholes are that spurt the geothermically hot water. They were good to watch as they exploded. Onward we went, and we moved onto the waterfall. Here we were in May, on the edge of a Glacier, snow and ice on one side whilst the otherside was its usual volcanic landscape. As we drove around, we were amazed to see the place, no trees, just mossy like substances. Dinner, was not cheap but this was Iceland. The next day, we drove around to see the Puffins. They were ok, we then had a lunch in a fishing village. The village was small but really nice. Last stop before being dropped off at the airport was the Blue Lagoon. This is a naturally heated of course, pool of water. We had a swim/relax. The locals place the mud on themselves to make them ????? Once at the airport, we were trying to get through to the departure lounge and there was a huge line which was going nowhere. I went outside and there were reporters and cameramen around. I asked what was happening and they said that there had been a bomb threat on an American plane. Word had got around, then across the loudspeakers came, "Would blah blah from Oslo come to the information desk"? An older American woman started saying, "There's your problem, you can never trust people from Moscow "!!!!! The line started moving, we got to passport control, went through, had to climb some steps, and then the American woman started complaining again as she said she doesn't climb steps ????? Shoot her quick. Put her on the American plane with the bomb threat !!!!! Aaaaaahhhhhhh
