Luckily for us, there was a cafe at the front of the albergue, so by the time we had eaten and drunk a few cafe con leches, the temperature had warmed up and we hit the road
Maybe it was warm, but the yellow arrows were few and far between, so it was a little hard, but once they were found, the road, and then the track just flew a long.
Today was going to be a special day for us because we would be riding directly through a Roman arch. When Paul saw these pictures, this was one of the reasons that he decided to come.
K after K the track flew by, and then it happened, in the distance was the arch, and to us, it was amazing. Here was an arch, possibly 2000 years old, and we were riding through it, so we dumped the bikes against the fence and ran around the ruins. This was an added bonus as we did not know that these were there !!!
After running around shooting, we hit the tracks again and not long after, well maybe a couple of hours, we stopped for lunch, which included the standard two cups of coffee and full fat coke !!!
Before we took off, we loaded up with water as the day had heated up and we had some hills to climb. There was also a Roman bath I wanted to see, and as we entered the town, the baths were closed, so we climbed out via a very bumpy Roman road. I flew up and waited for the other two, and once we were together, we took off, but a couple of 100 metres down the road, my rear tyre went flat for the third time !!! I decided to try taping up the inside of the wheel because this is where the puncture was and I had to try something !!!
Back on track, we flew up and down hills before we came to another village with 20Ks to go. Lucy spoke to a local and she said that it was a 4 hour walk, so I figured, 2 at the most, so we took off and once again encountered a long hill, so I flew up, had a nice rest and waited until the other 2 had arrived.
Once we were together, we had a little way to go before we arrived at the albergue of the little village. We checked in, showered and had a couple of beers. The food was so good we decided to have 2 dinners !!! We also asked the price of the wine and embarrassingly she said €5.00. At that price, we bought another !!! I love Spain !!!
