Sometimes you wake up and think, wow, we had a lucky get away with the rack, and you feel good, no great, so we packed up, oiled up the chain and hit the road
We started out on the road, and as usual, it was cold, so we rode slowly, a full moon on one side and the rising sun on the other. And with it rising, slowly our bodies warmed up !!!
It didn't take long before we were back on the tracks and following Roman mile markers. They were everywhere, including what looked like an old mile marker graveyard !!!
The track eventually came to a detour as the Spanish were trying to build what looked like a new freeway, so we followed it and got lost !!! We did after a little while realised that we had fuckd up so we went back, and were forced onto the road. This was ok as we were moving along and we were able to make up some time, well until we had a massive hill to climb to get us into the nexr villlage where we decided to stop for lunch and watch the last Settamana Santa parade.
Once done, we took off again and the tracks started coming again, and they were pretty fast after the first rocky uphill. We were moving along at good pace and it wasn't long before we came across another detour.
In the distance, we had seen a Spanish cyclist go the other way, which did tempt me as there were crossed out arrows pointed his way, and none pointing down the detour, but Paul pushed on, so we followed, which was kind of lucky because the arrows reappeared
The road we followed went on for a while and it made me think, for these 8Ks, I'm glad I was riding a pushie !!!
As we got closer to Galisteo, I felt my bike ride a little funny, and as we neared the gates, my rear tyre went flat. It was a bit of a shit as I had only had a flat two days before !!! So I pushed it into town and out the other side where the albergue was. Finally, Paul was going to have a true peregrino experience !!! Sleeping in a dorm.
Once showered, we walked up to the town and walked the walls. It was pretty interesting but the health and safety people had placed gated to stop you walking the full way !!! So we did as much as possible before we went back down and settled in for beers before dinner !!!
