As children, we are influenced in many ways. I remember when I was younger, my older sister use to thrash her music down my throat. Somehow, she use to get hold of different styles before they became mainstream in Australia, and some of it, wasn't all that bad.

Thirty years on, I was listening to the radio the other day when an English comedian, Phill Jupitus came on the radio. He mentioned that it had been thirty years since Ian Dury and the Blockheads had released New Boots and Panties and that the Blockheads were doing a re-union tour. As Ian had died of cancer in 2000, he was now up front. Being the nostalgic type of fool that I am, I went home and booked tickets from the net, and then we waited.A month passes pretty slowly when you're waiting !!!

And finally the day came

Shepherds Bush Empire

The support band was ok. They were fronted by Bill Oddie's daughter. Trust me, she wasn't as funny as him. We didn't have to wait long until they were finished. The roadies swapped the kit out quick, and then it was time. It was the same line up, 30 years on. Not only was Phill up front, but Ian's old chauffer was as well. They started off with Sex and Drugs and Rock-n-roll and then into I want To Be Straight. Next up came Martin Freeman who was Tim from the office belted out What a Waste. It continued on for two hours, it was so good. It was just like being a kid back in Wahroonga !!!
