Since we have been back, I have had numerous questions thrown at me. These have mainly been about how much did I spend, how did I manage to see so much, but send so many stories out, did I spend loads of time in the internet cafes and what cameras did I use? So now I will reveal all.

Cameras

We took four digital cameras

2 x Canon Ixus 500
1 x Canon Ixus V2 which was inside a Canon underwater housing
1 x Canon G6

Storage

As I was concerned about saving all of my photos, I had a backup of everything.

8 x 256 Compact Flash cards
2 x 512 Compact Flash cards
1 x 80 gig Vosonic Storage drive
1 x Ezy Digimagic stand-alone CD burrner

Stories

To type up all of our stories, we used PDA's and keyboards

2 x HP Ipaq 2210's
1 x Think Outside Bluetooth Foldable Keyboard
1 x HP Bluetooth Foldable Keyboard

We did have a HP Serial Keyboard, but it couldn't handle India and died pretty quickly.

Budget

We budgeted $60 USD per day for two years. As we only went for one year, we were way under budget. We didn't budget for Italy and Sweden, as we knew we would spend more as Italy was the start, and Sweden was for a wedding and it was always going to be costly. We also didn't budget for Australia as it was an unexpected visit. All our budget was done in USD as this is the preferred currency

Flights

On this trip, we were trying not to fly anywhere, but we knew we would have to fly to Sweden and back for a wedding. As I caught Hepatitis in India, it meant that we had to get an internal flight from Goa to Mumbai, then a return flight between Mumbai and Sydney. As we then needed to get to Bangladesh as we were now behind schedule, we flew between Mumbai and Kolkata. And then I accepted a role back at BT, so we flew from Dhaka to Bangkok, and then Luang Prabang to Bangkok, and then the final one way flights from London to Bangkok

Budapest - Copenhagen - Return - 397.47

Goa - Mumbai - 98.97

Mumbai - Singapore - Sydney - Return - 1811.04

Mumbai - Kolkata - 256.78

Dhaka - Bangkok - 450.85

Luang Prabang - Bangkok - 248

Bangkok - London - 786.84

Total for Flights - $4949.95

Final Total - $16499.46

So, for the year, we spent $8250 pp, approximately $23 USD per day. Quite cheap really, but overall, as explained before, it cost us a little more than expected through sickness, weddings and a new job. Realistically though, for one year out of either Australia or the Uk, we couldn't have lived on that amount per day, or seen the sites that we have seen. And, there are no regrets. I have walked into a better job, and we are now able to re-build the bank account for more travel vouchers for the next lot of travels, which are not to far away. But in the mean time, if you are anywhere near Putney in London, my house is your house and I have a wine collection that needs to be drunk

on the road
thanks for your posting, its a really useful guide.

Just one thing, you say you got by on $23 a day, yet in all the countries you mention, only Pakistan weighs in under. Am i missing something?

Re: on the road
The amounts listed by each country are what they spent together. The $23 is per person.
