I don't know how many times I have said it over the last year, but fuck I hate night buses !!! And this one was no different. At the halfway stage, I said to Welf that my knees were not coping and I was getting to old for this shit !!! And at 05:00, the heavens opened up and a huge storm took place. From that point, I didn't sleep. At 06:30, we arrived, a tuk tuk was found, and so was a room. By this stage, the sun was out and a beautiful day was in place. We grabbed the LP and decided to do the walking tour. Compared to the first time where there were only chickens walking down the street, Vientiane had loads of cars and motorbikes now, but I still remembered it all. Not much had changed. There were still holes in the footpaths, so always remember to walk on the road, and the people were still really friendly. First stop was the Patuxai, or Arc de Triomphe, built in Angkor style. Nothing has changed, except the price. We climbed up and took in the views. Next were the local markets, before we finished off with four Wats which were all impressive. As Welf, is a bit of a runner, he told us that the Hash House Harriers were running tonight, so we grabbed George and Colin, and went out to the place that it starts at. Basically, it is a run, but you need to find your way around. Lucy, George and I walked, whilst the other two ran. We saw them at every intersection, as they normally went the wrong way. Finally, after 5 K's, we had finished our walk. Then a call goes out to circle up, and as we were virgins, we had to circle up. We joined in, and was made to scull a mug for being a virgin. There were various other reasons to scull, and then the food came out, followed by beers. Eventually, the night finished at around 01:00 and we were driven back.

Once we finished breakfast, Lucy, Welf and myself, went out to the National Monument, Pha That Luang. A pretty big gold Stupa with various levels. Having seen a few over the past year, it was pretty nice compared to the ones in the Kat. We walked around, shooting madly, and then moved on back to the Arc. Lucy had spotted shirts in there the previous day and as they were not in the market, she wanted to buy them. She showed her ticket from yesterday, and they let her in. Once bought, we went back to the markets where we all bought a load of shirts, bracelets, rings and old money. There were loads of good things in there at proper prices. As it was getting late, we grabbed Colin and George and went down to the river for dinner. On the banks, they now have individual cafes all over the place. After a good meal and numerous Beer Lao's, we moved onto a pub that I used to drink at 6 years ago. It is now a whore bar so we had a beer and moved onto another bar. There we found Adele and Derrin who were drinking away, so they came and joined us. After one more, they kicked us out as it was to late. We had one more quick roadie in Welf's room before we crashed for the night.

We had to leave the following morning, so we bought a bus ticket to Vang Vieng. We want to go to the Plain of Jars, and as I don't think my knees can cope with this trip in one hit, we have decided to do it in two legs, besides, Vang Vieng was an awesome place last time, so hopefully, it will still be the same
