So, the Chookmobile was loaded up, and we had an additional passenger in a South African girl by the name of Melanie. She was a vegetarian, which was cool as we were game for it. As we drove along, we crossed from the M25 to the M26 And then the Chook started to run funny. Now we had just had this baby serviced, so it was quite alarming when it was missing, so we pulled into a village by the name of Snodlands in Kent and a mechanic checked it out and gave it a clean bill of health. So we drove onwards until we reached the port of Dover. Bought some ferry tickets to get us over to France and get down to Pamplona for the running of the bulls. Crossing was easy, once off the ferry, now Lucy and I have driven over a few times and normally, the you flash your passport and as it is either a blue British one like mine or a red EEC passport like Lucy's, they wave you through, but this was different. The World Cup of soccer was taking place whilst we were over there. So for once, they took our passports, punched our details into the computer to check to see if we were soccer hooligans !!!!! Damn it I wasn't, but we did get our first stamp and it had a little boat on it as we had crossed at Calais. We drove for a couple of hours and then pulled over and cooked dinner. Whilst there, another Bedford joined us. It was a van full of Kiwis and they were known as Uncle Travelling Matt. They hit the beers, and we hit the Moet vintage champagne !!!!! We drove for the next two days, having a bottle of S.T.Emilion, as we were in the Bordeaux area and as we were now coming up towards the border of France and Spain, we started looking for the border control to get stamp number two
