From Mel
Our first day in Cape Town was full of walking, market shopping, walking in gardens and the natural history museum, and dying of heat stroke. Apparently they are having a heat wave. Our hotel is nice but the air in our room is not working. Those of you who have been around Barbara know that she generates her own heat in the coldest of temperatures. This has proven to be a real challenge!!!!!! Luckily our tour company was good enough to pressure the hotel to change our room....we are finally back to normal (air on full blast and fan blowing on Barbara). The food and drink is plentiful and cheap in this town. We had a lovely dinner at FORK on their outdoor balcony (also 120 degrees) and sampled several of wonderful tapas and some nice wine, sangria and cosmopolitans. Bill for dinner for 2 with booze and tip....$58.00. No losing weight on this vacation.

We are a bit behind on our positing because Barbara Hemingway has taken 3 days to write about the giraffes. We will do better....still to come Table Mountain short hike, Waterfront Visit, meeting up with Fred's friend Bernie, and Biking and Hiking at the Cape of Good Hope. Keep checking for updates.....
