We found our way up to the glaciers on the West coast.  The Fox Glacier and Franz-Joseph Glacier.  At first we wanted to do a tour where you get to walk on them but we heard they weren't that great of tours and it is just walking on ice.  We spent the night at the bottom of the Fox Glacier.  It was so gorgeous.  We woke up and drove up as close as we could to it.  It's breath-taking to see something like this is real life.  The history behind it and that force of it is unbelievable.  After the Fox we went further north to the Franz-Joseph.  Again, amazing.  We walked out on this field of rocks that were left from the glacier a couple hundred years ago.  As we understand it, the glacier is still "alive" underneath the rocks.  The glaciers can retreat up to 3 meters per day!  Crazy.  They really are a fascinating thing to see.

We continued later that day through Arthur's Pass again.  We did this towards the beginning of our time on the South Island.  It was raining the first time and luckily this time it was nice a sunny.  That night we stayed at one of the free DOC sites.  We were right at the bottom of mountains in a field of brush.  We had a little hard time cooking dinner because it was windy.  This morning when we got up we couldn't even make breakfast so we got in the car and made it along the way.  We are now in Christchurch and glad to be here as there are many more work opportunities and think we have something set up starting this Monday.
