I went for a short weekend away to a small island off the coast of Beihai, Guangxi. The island is sorta nice. The people are friendly but everything is quite expensive. Plus, the beaches aren't the greatest. I did enjoy the tide pools near the Volcanic Park (火山口公园）and Colorful Beach (东安村). The weather was a bit hit or miss. Friday wasn't bad but it rained most of Saturday morning. However, Sunday morning was absolutely gorgeous.
There is a new fast ferry which runs to the new ferry pier on the island in the morning. The trip takes about an hour on the fast ferry. A ferry returns to Beihai at 9:45 am. and at 3:00 pm.
