Allo!

Today is the final day of our, shall we say interesting trip through the vineyards of Burgundy. It is also MY BRITHDAY!!!! SO breakfast was the same as yesterday only a little later seeing as we only had 1 wine tasting today in the late afternoon.

My friend Lauren made me a card and everyone signed it. It was really nice ☺ ! After breakfast I decided to go on a little hike to Les Cascades, waterfalls! I saw a sign that said they were only 1 km away. So I got ready and left.

It was a fairly grey day but not as freezing as the last. The walk was so pretty. It was through this forest freshly covered in snow and not a person in sight. I finally reached the main gate to the falls and entered.

The path took me through the old glade and eventually I came to an opening. There at the opposite end of the glade were the falls. It was so magically simple. About 100 feet high but just a single stream of water falling. There were icicles protruding from the rock face everywhere. It was dead silent besides the splashing of the water.

How magical is this scenario: On the day of my 21st birthday alone in the French countryside at a waterfall. SO COOL! So I made a wish, cupped my hands under the falls to catch some water and I drank.

I wish I could tell you that the water was cold as ice and so refreshing… but it was kinda warm and tasted like pennies. Oh well, still magical. I headed back and we hopped into the death mobile but wait! Something was different.

THE DRIVER!!!! PRAISE BE TO ALL!!!!!! We had a new and better driver. This time we sped through the vineyards with no impending doom. Only 1 3-point turn was necessary at the beginning and was performed with the precision of a dancer.

Our final testing was supposed to be at 4:30. It was 5:00 and we were lost. This time we convoyed so the driver is not to be blamed. We were in the middle. The Laurens and I were hoping we would just head home but these frenchies are determined.

We got there and commenced the tasting. Hoping it would be a short taste was in vain. The bottles just kept coming and coming! They never ended. Then everyone decided to buy buy buy! By the end me and Lauren were laughing at basically everything! So much laughter, I think we may have pissed off the guy but it was too funny to care.

Soon after we were speeding back to Grenoble, with the old driver! BLAH! He did his best not to kill us and their was only one lane change that should NOT have occurred! We decided though to stop at the burger place called Quick for dinner! FAST FOOD IS SO EXPENSIVE HERE!!!!!! It was like 7 euros for a meal!!!!! And they kindly put the nutritional information on the box so you know plain out what you are eating. NOT GOOD! The food was though!

We finally arrived home and after a very busy weekend, I crashed into my own soft bed and drifted off to sleep. What a great/hilarious weekend!

Au Revoir!
