We spent the day with David's relatives in Jozsa. Ibolyka (Eszter Neni’s cousin’s daughter) and her husband Vili greeted us.  Ibolyka and Vili’s children, Vili and Betty are the leaders of the famous Debrecen Folk Dancing group.  The Debreceni Dance Group has recently (last May) gone on tour in the United States; David saw them perform in Connecticut.

We met Vili, his wife, Eva, and their three children—Lili, Vili, and Nelli.  The whole family is actively involved in folk dancing and performs frequently.  Lili, currently 8-years-old, sang about ten beautiful Hungarian folk songs—her voice is so clear and beautiful that I am sure she will become a famous singer.  Little Vili also dances, and his picture is on the cover of the Folk CD. Even Nelli, barely a year-and-a-half, danced to her sister’s singing.

After enjoying a barbeque at the Hercz’s home, we got to attend a dance practice of the Debrecen  Folk Group.  Wow! They are so professional! They practice nearly every day of the week and most of the performers have been dancing their whole lives.   I cannot help but be very jealous; I wish I had that opportunity. We got see part of the 70 minute performance they will show on the 60th anniversary of the dance group, titled "Egyet Lep a Regi Varos (The Ancient City Takes a Step") on the main square in Debrecen.  We wish them the best of luck, but know they will not need it.
