What I did
went sailing with Ray
The guys from yesterday were leaving today, but one chap they knew, who was camping in the bay a few down from theirs, he had a boat and invited us to come out sailing with him. First we were going to get some lunch and we got into his car and drove all the way to, well to the entrance of the campsite, got out and then discovered the place wasn't serving food at the moment. I can't believe he wanted to drive that short distance. We consider that walking distance!
Still, we drove back to the campsite and then to the lake (still walking distance).
His boat, stargazer, was lovely. He showed us the basic principles of sailing (rather a lot to it. I see why people get so passionate about it) and we spent a happy few hours on the lake. Ray was a sweet person who was happy to share.
He took pictures of everyone with his Sony Alpha camera. He does a bit of photography for motor racing and was happy to show us around his camera. At that point, Al and I were considering buying a DSLR, too. I have inherited three thousand quid, just perfect for spending on something you don't really need. We'll be researching those at our next WiFi spot.
