Today was the day for the boys to be made into pirates at "Pirates League". The rest of us had joined in with the pirate spirit and dressed up too. We got into Magic Kingdom about 11.15 and happened to get to see the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade going past - bonus!

We headed to Pirates League and Duncan got the name William ?? Gareth was Thomas Bluefish and Scott was Benjamin Bluefish. They each chose the Black Eyed Jake makeover with black eye, scar and beard.

Then off to watch the castle show for Lara who had patiently waited and watched the boys have their makeover (and got a free tattoo on her hand from a very nice pirate lady).

Off then to the Liberty Hollow Tavern to try funnel cake (like a bit donut thing covered in icing sugar - absolutely drenched in it so I am surprised the boys and their make up survived as well as they did)

Then off to ride Pirates of the Caribbean at which point Scott and Gareth started complaining that they wouldnt have ANY time at home to do any filming of them selves in their pirate outfits. I explained we were headed for Tom Sawyers Island which was like a pirate island full of bushes, tress, rope bridges and great backdrops for filming - but they weren't appeased till we got there - at which point they simply were unhappy not to have longer there!

We relaxed with a coffee and the little two got some food (having been unimpressed with the funnel cake) and Scott and Gareth filmed each other before we rushed bck over on the raft boats and off to "pirate parade" for all the made over pirates of the day. Unfortunately we made it just too late (although I think it was really just a group photo op) but were there for the pirates to be marched over for "Jack Sparrows Pirate Tutorial which we watched - and Scott got picked (with his usual luck) to go up on stage.

We then discovered we had mislaid the days plan (yes I am that organised that we have a plan for each day with all the info we might need on a print out). It meant I couldnt rememeber what time tonight's rodeo was on - or indeed how long we needed to get there. Luckily there is wifi in Disney so Matt tried to find out the details while I queued with Lara and Duncan to wait for Aladdin and Princess Jasmine to reappear in their meet and greet area. When we discovered we really should be going, we had been waiting 15 minutes and it seemed a shame to leave then...so we waited...and waited....and eventually they appeared and chatted really nicely with the children and they had their photos and autographs and then we sped like the wind in another Disney rush..up to the monorail...across to the car park...onto the tram...take the buggy down - everyone grab a bag, ino the tram..off the other end - buggy up - bags on, run to the car...get Duncan changed out of his pirate captain outfit as he was cooking in it by now...and then a 35 minute drive across town to the rodeo.

When we got there it was a much lower key affair than expected which was actually really nice after all the hustle and bustle of Disney- we parked on the grass by a tree in the back lot and the stands were still quite deserted of people. There was a snacks counter (nachos, fries, burgers) a beer tent (at $3 so much cheaper than Disney!!) and a caravan selling baseball caps (Matt got one for $10) lassoo ropes (Duncan got one for 3) and t shirts and hoodies all at reasonable prices. It took about 5 minutes to go round all the "stalls" and then we headed to find a seat (most were still empty so no problem there!). Then it was time for the rodeo to start so we went and found a seat and got some food and beers in.

The boys really liked the country atmosphere and especially liked the bit where they were invited into the arena for a race where you raced in one shoe to your other shoe, put it on and raced back. Well anything with th word "race" and Scott's eyes light up so he was streets ahead of everyone else (having crocs helped!!) and won a cowboy hat. So cool!!

It was over after 90 mnutes which was about right for Duncan so we went to pat the horses and meet the stunt riders and headed home to wash off all the pirate make up.

Hi Claire,

Just wanted to let you know that I have been reading your blog but have been generally too busy to make a comment. And, all I can say is WOW!! It looks as if you are having a ball! You have certainly seen the best of Florida, and not just the parks.. It's making me wish we had three weeks and done more. You must be coming home soon so can't wait to see the rest of the photos. Have a safe journey home and see you soon for a coffee at yours infront of laptop looking through photos!!

Take care

Helen
