It's bloody cold here! Oy! I managed to stay awake all day my first day here despite no sleep. My first priority was to rescue the monkeys from the zoo. So I sneaks in real stealthy like, freed them all and they rushed off in a mad frenzy (see movie 28 Days Later for end result). One of 'em has been following me around and posing for pictures:

I've been wandering around doing the tourist stuff - Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, museums, etc... Having not been here for 11 years, I still know my way around pretty well.
Thursday evening I met up with Nick's friend, Nate, for free beers at the London Business School. The free beer part was great, but I felt like an outsider being the only one not in the department.
Yesterday I took a day trip out to Leed's Castle:

It was *#@! cold there so I tried to hide indoors when I could. Today I wised up and wore my longjohns...great for when I'm outside, but too hot when inside (is there no comfortable median?!?). I went to a couple of the markets today - Notting Hill and Camden Town. Camden Town used to be, and still is, kind of the punk/alternative area so it's funny to see that corporate brands have established themselves there (e.g., Starbucks). I've noticed a new fashion trend - graffiti on caps and jeans. Seems to be a way to do your own style on your clothes. For Nike soccer folks, you should look into team logos on hats or pullover caps...I've seen like nil of those around. I'm thinking I'll go to one of the pubs at a youth hostel tonight and see if there are other travelers about. I'll probably just see a few more of the touristy spots tomorrow.
Hasta manana!
