Warsaw was cold.  Not crisp and clean snowy cold like Godkowo but slushy, wet cold.  Not that the city can help that but it did mean one there we stayed in bed with hot chocolate and pizza, too chilled through to leave the hotel.

And onto the hotel.  For the price, and since its our honeymoon we did book a more expensive place than  usual, it was strangely unluxurious.  The room was average and reminded me of a Ibis.  Clean, but nothing to shout about.  Still it is very conveniently located near the centre and just a two min walk from the underground.

We spent a great day exploring the Royal Castle and the old town.  Its just beautiful although as it's all been rebuilt since the war, not actually that old.  But it looks good.  The churches, cobbled alleys, gothic building and baroque palace is all expertly reconstructed.

Its another city I'd be tempted to visit again in the summer although the snowy charm does have lots of appeal.  We did find a great little bar in the square called 'Metal' which does by far (and trust me, I am a known expert in this field) the best mulled wines EVER.  Think fresh orange stuffed with cloves....mmmm.

Its also worth a climb to the top of the Palace of Culture and Science which is the 'Empire State Building' of Warsaw, the tallest building in Poland.  Built by the Stalin it was once seen as a ugly reminder of Russian domination and narrowly escaped being pulled down after the fall of the Berlin Wall.  Attitudes have thawed and its now just known as the Palace of Culture and Science instead of previous nicknames such as Stalin's Penis.
