So, we got up at 6 am to go see the sunrise.   It was really cold and windy.  But really peaceful and beautiful.  Then we ate a big breakfast at the Bright Angel Lodge.  I forgot to mention that GC Park has a shuttle system, so once you park, you don't have to drive anywhere (although, I can't imagine what it's like in the summer when it's super busy, because they were crowded when we were there).  We hopped on the shuttle to Hermit's Point to go on our Ranger Pat recommended hike.  Hermit's point is at the very west end of the park.  We started the hike down and it was really steep.  There was only one area of ice/snow, which was good.  It was so quiet and peaceful!  We met a lot of people hiking.  There was a couple that was on their way to the bottom to camp for two nights.  Another family from Indiana, etc.  I took Ranger Pat's advice to heart (1 hour down = 2 hours up), so I turned around at an hour and Scott and Taylor went further.  Can I just say going up was HARD?!  I wasn't sure whether to blame it on a) not working out, b) turning 40 the week before, c) being a complete lazy ass.  So, I'll go with C.  I know I'm not a 2 pack a day smoker, so it couldn't be that.  Luckily, my cousin the PT can help me out when I get back to Vegas, right?  Yikes!!  I made it up and hung out until Scott and Taylor came back.  Then we decided to walk the rim trail to a few points.  They walked it about 4 miles.  They were so tired when they got back to the lodge!  We decided to go see the sunset at Hopi Point.  It's one of the most popular places in the park to watch the sunrise/sunset.  For some reason, the wind picks up to about 50 mph during the sunrise/sunset.  It was really pretty!!  Then we ate at The Arizona Room.  The food was great.  We were seriously exhausted!!  It was a great day!
