Where I stayed
Little Wild Horse Canyon
This was such an amazing hike. It's the reason I holed up in Hanksville for a couple of days waiting out the "threat of precipitation"...flash flooding is a real and intense danger. It was worth the wait. However, I would not have been able to do it with Roxi without the wonderful help of two fellows who came up behind me as Roxi could not climb over a huge boulder stuck in the chute, and I couldn't lift her up that high by myself. So my hike was about to end before it began...But, Roxi was a trooper and put up with us lugging her here and there. She had about 4 or 5 stumbling blocks. On the way down, she was most impressed to do the "getting down" all by herself. However, on the last hurtle (the first coming up) she couldn't get down, and in the process of helping her, she decided to help herself and jump at the same time...Everyone went flying. Roxi landed with a slight thud and no dignity on her side, Ken, trying to break her fall, landed on his face. Me, I just held my breath and prayed. No one was the worse for wear, thank God. It was about 10 miles round trip. Awesome!
Note: Photos don't even begin to capture the amazing beauty of this canyon...but, it gives you an idea...
