Baltimore is the setting for the edgy US drama "The Wire" and our lovely hostess Steph
introduced us to the wonders of the weekly "Murder Ink" feature which
appears in the Baltimore Herald every Wednesday and charts the weekly
murder count in one of America's most dangerous cities. Amazingly, the
headcount was 170 (including eight in that week) for 2010 to date -
mostly drug related killings. I wasn't worried though. Having been
dragged up on the mean streets of the Peak District means I know how to
handle myself (and a piece) so I knew I would be safe. From Baltimore we
took the 45 minute train for a days sight seeing in Washington DC,
before another pleasant night down by the harbour in Baltimore, which
seems to be a city of many sides...
