Mon 4th - Drove back to the Rocky Cape National Park in the morning to do a short walk in the rain to Cathedral Rocks, that look a bit like a badly built cathedral standing out to sea.  Took wrong path, but made it.  Then drove out to the West Coast of Tassie looking for our next luxury campspot.  Went into tourist info in Arthur River to ask about the options and on their suggestion drove many k down a  dirt track to Nelsons Bay.  Had to keep getting out to test puddle depths to ensure we did not drown Vince at this early stage.  After the 20th puddle and some very rocky roads, but no campsite in sight, we decided this was all getting a bit too much and made the decision to turn back towards Arthur River, to one of the campsites we had passed en route.

Neil did the nececessary 20 point turn, thought he backed into a big rock due to load banging rock into metal noise, was pleased to see he hadn't, but less pleased to find the back 2 wheels firmly wedged in a ditch (and noted Vince arse is bigger on the outside than it looks from the inside).  Swap drivers: Neil to push (punishment), Annie to drive (having not fucked up).  After a few attempts (and Annie having taken the handbrake off - one all!), we got him out and bumpety bumpety, hour later, got to the next campsite up the road - prickly wattles. Fuck, what a shithole.  Endless spaces of mud.  Drove on, back to Arthur River Town.  Pulled up at the campsite right next to the tourist info we had been in 3 hours beforehand and found a lovely spot (peppermint campground) overlooking the sweeping river, with our own flower garden, tyre swing, pademelons (small wallabies) and possums.

Tue 5th - Rest day at Arthur River, as getting grizzly with driving/navigating/inspecting campsites/putting up the tent/tarp.  Walked out along river to beach, saw very much drift wood and jagged rocks (plenty for artistic nature photography).  Now proud owners of 55 identical shots of a big rock with waves crashing over it.  Went to the shop (small) to buy postcards and some of last summer's ice-creams.

Sat in pretty campsite in the sun most of the day - pretty pleased with selves.  Another attempt at damper in the evening = v. successful.  Also christened the new heavy duty camp frying pan.  Becoming bush masterchefs.  Booked flights with Martin from Flight Centre, Brighton, on what must have been a very expensive long distance call for him.  Kept him on the phone to compare vistas (us = pademelons, river, bushy glade, campfire feast. him = rain and several high street banks).  Again for today, feeling pretty pleased with us selves.
