Where I stayed
Sandy Point House
10th - with raging hangovers from last nights karaoke extravaganza (see embarrasing photo additions to week 2 entry) we went to meet our new baby - Vince the Mitsubishi supervan (he is inVincible and would make Vincemeat of any other van, etc, etc.). Weren't in much of a state to drive him anywhere except home... Only other activity for the day - collecting rocks.
11th - walk along the Yarra with Sasch and Munch, met some hippies, went home and Tim cooked up a veggie burger storm. Annie tried to drive Vince home with her foot on the clutch. (I have the hang of it now).
12th - 16th - keen to stretch Vince's legs and get away from Melbourne where everyone seems so keen to get us drunk we set off for Sandy Point. A long drive, south eastwards from Melbourne, testing Vince's ability to hit every pothole. Big storms outside, big fire inside, round to Nan and Grandad John's for dinner and inspection of the new kiln and pottery shed, round to Aunty Robin's to eat her home made cheese. Vince beginning to feel violated with all the people looking in his boot and inspecting his belly. We tried to cut our way down the track to the surf beach but after two days of heavy duty planticide we gave up and drove to Wilson's Prom and walked to Sealers Cove in the rain. 20k's in 4 1/2 hours! Lost count of number of wombat carcasses on side of road, but rough estimate: dead = 20, alive = 2, unknown = 1, burnt = 1. Narrowly missed creating a wallaby shaped dent in the side of vince. No hot water in the house this time so we had a 'shower' on the balcony - flashed the koala who was sitting in a tree nearby. chocolate bananas, marshmallows and jaffles on the fire in a big storm that felt like it was going to whisk the house away (and appeared to have whisked the koala out of the tree). Sad to leave but we'll be back.
16th - Buck 65 (hip-hop canadian) at the Corner Hotel (pub). Missed last train - long walk back into city, late night Hungry Jack's (burger king) and then a taxi home to watch the room spin all night.
17th - quiet day looking in the National Parks book (we have booked a ticket to tasmania, but it was sold out for the next couple of weeks, so we are looking for some Victorian camping action to fill the gap).
Victorian Camping Action = Camping in the state of Victoria, not killing natives in a bustle.
