I'm back, after another fabulous trip to the big apple. My goodness it's a wonderful city!! I think I fell in love with it more this time (rather than my first time in May).  My sister, dad and his wife all joined me for a long weekend and we did alot of the tourist-y stuff.  Went to the Empire State Building at night, ferry ride out to the Statue of Liberty, Central Park (carriage ride), Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ground Zero, Rockefeller Center, Macy's and so much more.

My purpose for going to NYC this time was to take a Travel Writing class. I did, it was great! Exactly what I had hoped for.  I'm on my way to accomplishing my dreams.

I was able to feel the city more this time.  Maybe walking around by myself, the day of the class..... I don't know.  But, it got under my skin more, watching the people, being a part of the hustle and bustle and also sitting in the park eating salad by myself just soaking it all in.  So much culture, diversity and kindness. You probably don't think of kindness when you think of New York City,  but they were everywhere.  The kind people we encountered gave me a whole different perception of this huge city.

New York City is probably not the place for the claustrophobic.  Some crowded, tight spaces whether hopping on the subway or just walking down the street in Times Square, let's not even talk about Macy's!!   We stayed right in the heart of Times Square, the absolute perfect location.

What a beautiful time of year to be there. At the start of the holiday season there were Christmas lights and decorations popping up everywhere.  I wish we could have stayed for the Thanksgiving day parade or the unveiling of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center.  But, another time.  I'm hoping to go back to watch the ball drop in Times Square next month.

And, what's up with Diet Coke?!?!?  Or fountain drinks.  I noticed during my stay that Diet Coke (Coke products for that matter) were quite hard to come by. And forget getting a fountain drink, actual ice in a cup, can't they say ..... DOUBLE BIG GULP?!?! 64 ounces? Am I the only addicted one in a city of 10,000,000??  There was no problem blinking and running into 4 gazillion Starbucks, but when it came to Diet Coke I was out-o-luck!!  I made the mistake of asking for "pop" in Union Square's Whole Foods market.  I felt like I was playing charades acting out a machine that dispenses ice, in a cup, with pop pouring into it....... Then the cashier finally says, "You mean soda?" Oh yes, I forgot I'm a bit of a freak by calling it pop.  "Yes, Yes!" I scream.  She responds, "ahhh, no!".   So, one of my first travel articles might be wear to find Diet Coke in NYC.  And we're talking with ice in a cup, not a bottle or can, not the same.  I did find a McDonald's and literally went running towards it. They have it!

I will wrap things up for now. But, to recap.... New York City - LOVE IT!!!
