. The hotel was good and was only around 8 quid a night for a double room in English money. This was about a 2 minute walk to the beach which was a good beach with lots of very soft sand, warm sea which is very shallow and allows you to walk out a long way before the sea is up to your shoulder. Lots of space on the beahc to lack of crowds, although officially the summer season does not start until next week so it will probably have more people a week or two after we left and prices will be a little higher. The only negative was the amount of mosies at night, I got tagged several times and my legs look like the surface of the moon so special tip if you go to the coast in Bulgaria, make sure you have mosquito repellant!!!!!! This past few days Svetla has been at work so I have spent most of the time dowloading Euro 2008 games and catching up with the tournament, thank god for the internet!!!! Last night we went for a meal in Plovdiv town center and afterwards we were walking through the center and saw a gathering of people by the Art gallery with some camera crews so we were expecting some Bulgarian celeb to pop out but instead out came the President of Bulgaria!!!!!! complete with secret service etc, but he allowed people to come close and shake hands as he walked through the center, I have some pics but they are on my phone so I will have to wait until I get back to the uk to download them, still not often you get to see the President of a big country.
I may visit the aviation museum later today or maybe leave it until one day next week, tonight we will watch sunset from the top of the hill, the spot where we got engaged a few months ago, then tomorrow we will go to Sofia where Svetla has a monthly service to go to, I will visit the millitary museum while she is at the service, afterwards we will meet up possibly with her sisters or one of her friends. On Sunday we will travel to Haskovo and meet up with Magi who I have met several times.
So a good couple of weeks so far. Anyway I have added a few pictures and video to this blog.
It's been a great visit so far, The first weekend I was here myself and Svetla went on a 2 day coach trip with her former teaching coleagues, because they are teachers the trip was subsidised by the government which meant that the cost of the trip including coach and hotel stay was very cheap!!!! On this trip we visited the Bachkovo monastery, an observatory, a small historic village, stayed in a great hotel up on top of a big hill above the town of Nedelino close to the Greek border in the heart of the Rodolpi mountains. We also visited a place called Perperikon (probably spelt wrong) which are the remains of an old Thracian village on top of a hill, this was built several thousand years before christ and before Stonehenge and was very good, similar to the remains in Peru at Machu pichu. After this trip we then went on our holiday to a very small beach resort called Kramorie, this is just south of Burgas but before Sozopol, it does not appear on many maps and is a place that normally only Bulgarians go to as they are the only ones to know about it, but it is far cheaper than it's neighbouring resorts and much much quieter
