Merry Christmas from Illinois! We didn't do much in Illinois other than drive as we were only in the state a short time. We did enjoy all the wonderful Christmas decorations in the hotel and took plenty of pictures of all the great nutcrackers! But then we were on our way as we had a very long drive ahead of us!

Merry Christmas from Indiana! We've been in this part of the country a couple times before and have always wanted to see a covered bridge, but it never worked out. But we finally got to see a covered bridge today! Just a couple minutes off the highway was Geeting Bridge, the longest covered bridge in this county of Indiana. It was a beautiful bridge surrounded by large trees with brown leaves covering the ground. A picture perfect bridge! (well, it might have been prettier with snow :) or fall leaves in my mom’s opinion, but it was still beautiful!)

Merry Christmas from Ohio! We saw another covered bridge in Ohio. It was a little bit smaller and there was a stream running underneath it. It’s sad to think that there are not many covered bridges left in our country, they are so pretty! We stopped at an Amish cheese store to sample some cheeses. There were so many and all so good! We finally decided on a couple different kinds and had cheese and crackers for lunch. And a chocolate truffle for dessert :).

We love National Parks and if there is one close by, we always stop. We didn’t have too long but we got to stop at the Wright Brothers National Monument. This is the area where they owned their bicycle shop, perfected their flying (after the first few flights in North Carolina) and taught others how to fly. The best part of the visitor center was the flight simulator. Not only was it the flight simulator on the computer, but there was also the seat and controls similar to that in the Wright Brother’s plane. Both Tracy and I tried it twice and on our second tries we both had a successful flight! (meaning we flew for three minutes without crashing!) We even received certificates to prove it! For dinner we stopped at Der Dutchman, an Amish restaurant. The food was delicious! And it seemed fitting that we should eat there, being Dutch.

Merry Christmas from West Virginia! Wheeling West Virginia is an interesting city. It is the only city in the country that is bordered by a different state on each side! It also has a wonderful Christmas light display. Some of our favorites where the Charlie Brown Christmas display and Cinderella going to the ball.

Merry Christmas from Pennsylvania! It was late, dark, and we weren’t in Pennsylvania for very long, so we didn’t do anything in there. We soon drove back into West Virginia to spend the night. It was a nice old fashioned Christmas kind of day! - Stephanie :)
