Last weekend we spent in Thai way. Saturday morning we headed to Bang Saen (as many Bangkokers do), beach town just something over an hour to the south from Bangkok. This is a place where locals go to enjoy themselves, but not necessarily in the sea. Some of them just lean back in a deckchair and bit by bit consume delicious Thai food. We  did so as well. Watching Thais with their clothes on while swimming in the sea was really extraordinary. I had a short swim, just to evaluate the water. Sea contained a lot of trash, but the water was pretty warm. Anyway, nothing for foreigners expecting first class quality. In the afternoon we visited kind of a sea world hosting many underwater creatures including sharks. After that we moved to nearby town of Sri Racha, a transit place for Ko Si Chang. There is a great evening market though. We stayed overnight there and Sunday early morning took a ferry to Ko Si Chang.
This little island has several things to offer. First of all stunning monastery built in a set of caves located on a hill, up of which is a great outlook. Worth mentioning is also nearby Chinese temple as well as spreaded royal palace complex, mostly developed during the reign of Rama V. There is no public transport on the island so unless you fancy hiring a motorbike you are dependent on tuk-tuk (much bigger than in Bangkok). After sightseeing we dropped off on the western beach, which looked much nicer than in Bang Saen.
