Despite the unpleasant 4am start and the tiring eight hour bus journey from Botevgrad to Kranevo Summer Camp 2012 has finally begun!
On arrival at Lipnitsa Orphangae School to collect the children the shrieks and squeals of excitement could be heard before we had even entered the gates. They bounded onto the bus with smiling faces and shouts of 'I love you!' We were all amazed that despite their negative and volatile backgrounds, where they have literally nothing, they still have so much love to give. Although they have been treated badly by people in the past, and we are nothing but strangers to them, there was an instant bond between us as if we were family.
The afternoon saw endless gestures of affection, larking around in the sand and more flash photography than Kate Moss would see throughout London fashion week! While the girls dream of being models and movie stars, the boys are only interested in trying to drown as many team members as possible. It has been an incredible day despite the unexpected check-in at Fawlty Towers!
We are delighted to have Pete and Maggie Cole join the team this evening. After a few frustrating issues at the Bulgarian border they were finally allowed to enter the country. We look forward to Pete's long awaited juggling spectacular tomorrow on the beach... We just hope to make it through the night in one piece.
