Our final full day of this year's Christmas box trip brought us face to face with the human cost of violence and conflict at a party for refugee kids at a state run facility in Sofia. Run by a collective of NGO's, we were invited to the party to give out presents to these kids who have nothing and in some cases, no-one.

Amid chaotic scenes we gave out presents to the children and were warmly thanked by their parents, most of whom are fleeing the voilence in the Middle East or the harsh conditions on East Africa. Some of the teenagers had no parents and found themselves in a foriegn country with no family connections and and very little outside help except that provided by a few small organisations who work on their behalf. The kids were all delighted with their presents and despite the huge clash of cultures in the room we were able to see and feel how grateful the children and parents were for these gifts. The facility director was grateful for our efforts too and we felt that we had at least spread a little happiness in so uncertain a place.

This will be our last regular blog entry for tis year's trip. We will add some more bits and pieces and perhaps show you some behind the scenes type stuff if we can get our act together enough to sort it. We hope that through these videos, pictures and words you have been able to get a feel of what it is like to spend two weeks being Santa for real. The whole Trussell Trust/FSCI team would like to thank all our wonderful donors and volunteers for their generosity of time, money and Christmas boxes- we are truly priviledged to be in the position to see what affects your efforts have on the chlidren and families who receive these boxes and we hope that you and yours have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year.

Extra thanks go to: These guys are a super team with understanding families to boot!

Thanks again for all your support, donations and efforts. This has been another record busting year and the distribution trip was our biggest and most ambitious yet. We are seeing changes here in Bulgaria but they are slow and in the meantime thousands of children are slipping into a hinterland of drugs, crime and prostsitution. Christmas boxes won't stop this but you'd be surprised at the part they play in our wider work to combat these issues. One day perhaps we won't send Christmas presents to Bulgaria but for the imediate future we will be coming here with gifts and a whole lot more for an increasing number of children and young people. We know how to turn lives around here but we need your help:if you want to find out more about how you can help fight for the long term future of young Bulgarians then visit our website or give me ring.

God bless,
