Wednesday 14th saw our teams spilt in two to cover seven different deliveries in sone extremely variable locations and circumstances. For the first team today was very different to yesterday's experience with young children in Gurkovo where we enjoyed much warmth and unconditional affection in a sea of wrapping paper and presents. As we pulled up alongside the intimidating, and crumbling exterior of Boychinovtsi Juvenile Prison, we sensed this was no easy place to be. Even the weather was forboding - no colour and noticably colder than earlier in the day. However, a warm welcome was extended to us and we soon found ourselves entering the main hall where almost 100 young men sat awaiting us.

We had decided to play some simple games and present a play with a message to contemplate, carefully scripted to encourage as much audience participation as possible! And then it was over - almost as quickly as we had secretly hoped it might be (we were a bit apprehensive, especially as iron gates were locked behind us).Saying our goodbyes and heading or the relative safety on the van, we then dropped off another cargo of Christmas boxes in the delightful little church just down the road, we suddenly felt we had made a group of hardened individuals laugh and (we hope) brought them some joy this Christmastime, in a remote and dreary location, our mission was complete. Amazing.

The second team visited more orphanges including Vratsa, Berkovitsa and Razliv. We hope you get a sense of the delight your boxes bring from the pictures and video...

Tomorrow we head to Lipnitsa Orphanage/School for a big Christmas celebration. There'll be singing and dancing and we're sure the kids'll get a look-in too. It should be good.
