Today has been about forward thinking- not something we can always be credited with but occasionally we think about stuff before we do it. Not that the results improve but we feel it's best to show willing.

This am the youth team spent some time on their hands and knees checking out all the arts & crafts materials that we will be using over the next few days. Alice spent some time on her hands and knees in a supplicatory fashion after the lost key fiasco of last night. The Fosters and the Coles have also brought extra materials so we have a whole range of stuff from hand puppets and animal masks to delicate little decorative glass ornaments for the children to personalise. Together with Pete's juggling workshops there will be something to keep everyone happy.

In the afternoon we spent some time planning our Christian teaching sessions. Through drama (always a laugh) and songs we hope to bring alive some of the best known Bible stories for the kids and tell them that there is a God who loves them very much. Fatherly love is a difficult subject for a lot of these kids- the reason many of them are with us is because they have been abused by their dads so we are very sensitive as to how we express our faith in a way that will encourage and help them.

Tomorrow we head to Skravena Roma community to do some fun activites with the kids (and adults) there. Should be fun. After that we will be having a party for one of the new residents here at HoJ- Niki. The youth team have been spending a lot of time with the HoJ residents and you can see by the way they respond that these vulnerable young adults (still children really in many ways) truly enjoy having new friends to talk to and interreact with. It's very hard to place a value on this sort of thing but it's just one more good reason for young people from the UK to join our SC teams each year. If you want to get involved in 2012 click here.

It's good to be able to report that Alice has avoided additional crisis' today. Having said that it's only 11pm so there is still time.
