Today we travelled from the House of Joshua to Kranevo. Traditionally this entails an early start but just to be different this year we had a very early start at 0430.

After boarding the coach we made our way to Lipnitsa to collect the children. As the coach approached the school gates we could see some very excited faces waiting to greet us. It is so good to see these kids again and although some of the older children from last year are not with us in 2010 we have some new young faces who will experience this holiday for the first time and whom we hope and pray will recieve a huge blessing over the next few days. We had prayed that the time would pass quickly and that the kids wouldn't be too sick and there wasn't as much passing back and forward of sickbags as previous years so we're counting that as  result. By nine o'clock the children were sat all around us playing and having fun. Just to ratchet excitement levels up further Rich brought the video camera out- garaunteeing an extra tough concentration test for our coach driver.

After seven hours on the coach and a late lunch it was time for the Lipnitsa school staff to get the kids organised and distribute things like towels and swimsuits so the YT checked out the beach and started thinking about our programme of Christian teaching for the children. Each day we do arts and crafts with the kids and then an hour of bible stories, drama, songs and fun games. This year our theme is courage and we'll be looking at some biblical characters who displayed a lot of the right stuff when doing God's work. The school director, Mr Petkov, values this input for the children and the kids love hearing he stories. The challenge comes when we talk about God as "our Father"- for many of these kids "father" is someone who at best ignores them and sadly, for many, is someone who beats them and treats them badly. These kids can be a tough crowd and have a habit of making very challengeing statements like"what's the point of praying when our parents beat us all the time?". Our challenge is to try and show them that our heavnly Father will never leave them, beat them or ignore them.

Tomorrow we begin our regular programme of activities. The YT are raring to go almost as much as the kids. Standby for chaos...
