It’s night time.
There is a nice refreshing breeze and I am shirtless in 25 degree temperatures.
Ocean waves steadily creep closer and closer as full tide approaches to the
edge of the wooden posts where I sit with legs crossed on a small bamboo platform
under coconut trees at the beaches edge. The moon is nearly full and it
illuminates the palm leaves above me creating a surreal setting that I dream
about when the bitter cold of Canadian winters pushes me too far
KD Lang and Brian Adams have just played consecutively on the speaker behind me
at the resorts bar. Clearly some Canadian traveler here left behind a music disc for the Thai people at some point. Not exactly my first three choices of artists, but at least I
can boast they are fellow canucks.
resorts yesterday. I downgraded to a small, old bamboo hut just a 100 meters
away for nearly half the cost, but no amenities other than a bed and bath area.
My old resort wanted more money because the high season had begun and so they
increased the price of accommodation
however, as I’m over budget anyway and I knew change was coming soon. I also
finally bought new flip flops!! The color of cherry red and only $7. No chance
of theft now.
I didn’t sleep
well last night. Twice, woke up suddenly with the sound of coconuts falling on to my
bungalow’s tin roof and startled me from my sleep... and it was loud, very loud,
like striking lightning.
In the distance
a young French couple argue, a Thai baby cries and I lay swinging in a hammock
tied between 2 coconut trees near the beaches edge. I refuse to be annoyed. The wind is howling heavily
through the palms and it reminds
me of being in the Canadian rockies where tall pine trees sway back and forth and
you hear the sound of wind echoing through the forest.
I'm about to log off now. I'm having trouble editing the photos I would like to post, it's frustrating, but for now here is are 2 images of my new footware and a night shot of the beach area where you chillout and view the beach. Till next time.......
