The title speaks for itself. After nearly two solid days of travel, I arrived in Bangkok relieved to be on solid ground. I used to love flying when I was younger, but now I despise it. I actually had a serious bout of anxiety that started 40,000 feet somewhere over the Bering Sea a few hours out of Vancouver and lasted upon arrival in Beijing 7 hours later. Having been sleep deprived for nearly two days, I was exhausted and to make matters worse, I was having trouble breathing. I found myself walking around aimlessly in the Beijing airport (which may be the biggest one I've ever seen, quite impressive actually), questioning myself on whether or not I could continue moving on to Bangkok. I just wanted to sleep and the thought of getting back on another 6 hour flight to Thailand terrified me at that point, as I honestly thought I couldn't do it. That's when I sat down beside one of the only Caucasian's there and started talking to James, a young guy from Vancouver who was also headed for Bangkok. There is no doubt that had I not befriended James I would not have gotten on that flight. And who knows what troubles would have become after missing that flight as I found the people of China to be unfriendly, unhelpful and english deprived. Stepping out of the airport around 2 AM, I was blown away by the high heat and humidity of Bangkok, my breathing improved. James and I shared a taxi to downtown Bangkok and after searching for a place to stay, we decided to share a room and finally found one with 2 beds and by 4.30 AM, finally hit the pillow that was made of cast iron. After a day and a half, I decided it was time to head South to the beaches and James went North to see culture.

It's funny how time becomes deceptive when away from the routines of home life, I have to think about how long I've been here, which is about 6 days I believe. It is currently mid-afternoon, lightly raining and I have found a little place while walking on the beach that has wireless internet. So here I am eating my chicken and rice with sprite pop and laptop in hand creating this blog.
It's a good thing the sun has disappeared today as I'm burnt and I need a break from it. I'm already thinking about ordering more food... it's just so dam good! Thus far I seem to be living off of fruit, yogurt and muesli, banana pancakes, fruit shakes, scrambled eggs and chicken and rice with either veggies or ginger. For anyone who knows me, I don't like seafood and I won't eat beef here either as you only need to look at the sorry looking, skinny cows and figure it out for yourself. I went for my first massage 2 days ago. It was on the beach with an open hut and straw roof. At one point a second thai woman came over to talk to her friend who was massaging me at the time and started massaging me as well, one doing my back and the other, my legs. It is so unbelievably relaxing, especially with the hot sun beating down, the breeze blowing soothingly, the ocean waves crashing ashore and the best part of all is the cost, 9 Canadian dollars!! I'm losing money not doing it as Kevin White would say.

Well, I guess this is a good start and I could write more, but I'm going to leave and head back to my resort before it really starts to pour.

Babies - glad to hear you are taking in the culture. As Lunchie says, you are losing money by not going for at least one rub-n-tug a day. Be cautious of the massage girls with adam's apples.

the only apples I'm interested in are the ones that are round, red and come off trees!

Wow, what a trip. Those long plane rides sound torturous! I'm so glad that you ran into that chap James and he got you through that time.

Awe, the food actually sounds delish to be honest with you, even that beach in the rain with a sprite!! That massage sounds nice too, and wow so cheap! I can't wait to see more photos!
