Today I swam w the Dolphins!!! This was def one of the coolest things I have ever done, I thought you would just be in the water w them and they would swim by far away in the distance...but they get within feet of you and its so amazing. I am placing this on everyones "Must Do" list. It was wicked fun. I swam with wild Dusky Dolphins which are smaller than Bottlenose, they stay in Kaikoura year round and are known for being acrobatic. It was so much fun to watch them jump and do flips out of the water. I took these pix w an underwater camera...imagine if I actually took them w a proper camera! Oh yea and they swim in pods of 100, absolutely brilliant you must all come and see the Dusky's!!!
I was a little freaked out at first bc I have never snorkeled before and took a few minutes to adjust to the mask and when I first jumped in the water there where 3 of them directly below me. As soon as I got use to the mask and flippers, I did not want to leave the water or the dolphins. They come right up to you if I would've reached a hand out I could've touched them but it was never scary.
