I hopped off the Stray bus and originally planned on staying in Kaikoura for 2 nights...5 weeks later and I'm still here! Kaikoura is a tiny fishing village that has become a premiere destination for marine life viewing and activities.  Theres a 3300 ft canyon out in sea only 300 ft from the shore and the currents push up nutrients from the ocean floor which attracts heaps of marine animals-whales, dolphins, giant squid, and albatross are regulars here year round.  Even though the town is tiny and touristy, I instantly loved the vibe and gorgeous surroundings.

I'm staying at Dusky Lodge working 2 hrs every morning cleaning in exchange for accommodation. This backpacker is super nice, I have free reign over mountain bikes, pool, sauna, spa, pool tables, 3 kitchens, nice lounges, and stunning views from the outside decks. In between working at Dusky and working at the White Morph I have enough free time to go for a bike ride or my favey: swimming w mntns in the background...hmmm love it here! The other day I went w some of the cleaners to a nearby watering hole.  Yep, it was cold but incredibly awesome, the short "bush walk" there left us scratched and muddy but that was bc we were too blind to see the small path D'oh!

On one of my days off I took a bike ride up to the Kaikoura Winery to sample wine for $4 - it was an educational trip of course so I know what kind of wine I'm selling at work.  The view from the winery is amazing; and on a clear day you can see whales while sipping on wine from the deck.
