Napier Prison Backpackers

Next morning we woke up early and went back to the national park.  We were originally going to do the 2 hr loop walk but noticed we were low on gas (great place to notice - no gas station in sight until an hour back to town) so we stopped off early and did a section of one of the Great NZ walks and walked around the Lake.

Afterward, we drove down to Napier and stopped off at afew parks and lakes along the way.  Napier is a sweet town and I really wish I would've stayed there to work.  We spent the night in the slammer - Napier Prison Backpackers, it was a working prison up until 1993, we were in the Wardens Hut but could've easily been in Detox or Psyche Ward.  It was very interesting to stay behind bars voluntarily for the night.  We walked across the street to a waterfall and then down to the beach before we got a pint at Brazenhead and some grub at Hogs Breath.
