I headed out for a day trip to Japans number one castle, Himeji-Jo. It is one of very few castles which are in their original form and not reconstructed after fires. It is a really impressive building and its great to look around at where the samurai used to leap around! Apparently quite a few films have been made here.
I then visited Kokoen which is a collection of Japanese gardens next door. It was really lovely - despite the giant carp - and included a lovely teahouse where I had a matcha and sweet. Yum!
The next day I headed for a last trip to Kyoto where it was snowing! I was delighted to actually see THREE bonafide Maiko (apprentice Geisha). I have now ticked all the boxes on my trip! Off to Tokyo tomorrow for the last couple of days before I head home...
