Left on a ferry from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead this morning. (On the ferry I was wearing my Sydney Swans scarf with pride and was asked by someone if I was Welsh, apparently they have a team called the Swans or something there too!)
Cs uncle Ivan and his wife Lou picked us up, and we drove to their house in Holyhead :)
They lived in this amazing white, castle like house perched high on the cliffs...was AMAZING!! His cousins were there too, and we took a walk along the windy coastal cliffs, past centuries-old stone walls, paddocks full of sheep with long tails (sheep don't have long tails in Australia, we took photos to show our families...hehe!), the 18th century grave of a dog named Tyger who saved a whole boat full of people from crashing into the cliffs, and gave his own life (yes, I had tears), and a roman bath (that supposedly heals mental illness if you touch the water).
We stopped for a beer at the local Welsh pub, then walked back to the house. We went back to the same pub for dinner later. A splendid evening in great company!
