We stopped off at a little coffee shop near the Vatican and I ordered a latte. The barrista said "A hot latte?" and I thought, OMG dude, what other sort could it be? I patiently replied, "Yes, a hot latte". He looked at me strangely and not long afterwards I received a glass of warm milk *LOL*. Luckily C ordered an espresso so we just poured them together and it was seriously the best coffee I had the whole time! (and I'm sure I'm not the first person to have done this either!)
We wanted to see the Sistine Chapel but the line was SOOOO long and was reaching around the block, and the entry fee seemed exorbitant for our budget, so we decided against it and bought a postcard of it from out the front *sigh*. We will definitely have to come back to see it when we have a bit more money.
We went inside St Peters Basilica and I nearly stopped in my tracks. Wow, it is the most ornately decorated church I have ever seen...amazingly beautiful!! We bought the audio headsets and wandered around listening to the history and architecture of it all. Really amazing.
Whilst inside the Basilica, I actually saw the Pope giving a service (not to the usual masses outside, but an actual service inside!) People were screaming and taking pictures like he was a pop star...amazing the effect this one man has on the world :)
