Arrived in Florence and it is sooo hot!!  We flop down at our hostel, Locanda Starlight, and have a few hours rest.  Go out for dinner tonight and have some 'Tuscan specialties', we share a plate of squid (still all in tact, not really that cooked either, so looks like it could jump off the plate at you!  Eeek!!) and we both have a different pasta dish, both of which are rather tasteless.   We have discovered that Florence is very much a food and art place, moreso than other places we have been!

The next day is pretty much taken up with strolling along the River and seeing the Uffizi museum.  We also visited the touristy street market, which sells marbled paper, inscribed leather notebooks, leather wallets, fake bags and leather jackets.  So much leather in this city!  I was nearly tempted to buy a leather jacket, but decided against it.  The Duomo is amazing...one of the most amazing structures I have seen thus far.

We found the most amazing place for lunch, Mario's, which is an old restaurant that only opens at lunchtime, but my god their food is amazing!!!

The next night for dinner we go out to a fancy restaurant, Acquacotta, and I have squid ink risotto (which is black, but doesn't taste strange at all).  The rest of the time we have been eating gelati, and have been trying about 6 flavours a day *blush*.  We are having a race to see how many flavours we can try...hehe!
