WOW!!! How can you describe this incredibly stunning coastline!!! Those of you who have visited the Amalfi Coast will know what I'm talking about – it’s almost indescribable! We were on a tour today from the Port of Naples, and spent several hours just soaking up the beauty of this region. Similar to the Cinque Terre, houses are built into the cliffs overlooking the sea in the most precarious fashion, and it looks like almost every square millimetre of space has been utilised!

After the most picturesque drive from Naples (not the most picturesque city!), we arrived in Sorrento. We were very keen to have a look around this beautiful village, as we are going to be spending a week here after the cruise with Anna & Philip and Billy & Karen. It is absolutely gorgeous – everything you imagine a beautiful Italian town to be.  Really looking forward to our time there and exploring it further, as it has a number of pre-Roman ruins and churches.

After lunch in Sorrento we continued our spine-chilling drive along the coastline, taking care not to look over the side too often!!! As we passed through villages, I could have reached out the bus window and picked figs off the trees, and a number of times the bus had to back-up the road to let another vehicle past.

Believe it or not, the roads were widened during the Second World War by the Americans so they could drive their tanks down them!! Positano was idyllic, and the town of Amalfi was out of this world! Breathtakingly beautiful!

On the way back we stopped at a cameo factory, and Rex bought me the most beautiful earrings. We arrived back at the ship after 5pm, and following some drinks had a wonderful farewell dinner for the people who are leaving after the first cruise rotation. Fortunately we have another 10 days to explore Eastern Europe. I’m not ready to hop off this floating paradise just yet!!
