. When I said sorry, they would lose our custom, he got decidedly rude!!! Hence that is why we are in a fishermans car park!!! The weather has been trying too!! I got absolutely soaked a couple of days ago, and it's not much fun for Padi either driving in the pouring rain looking for a spot for us to stay the night, and then hoping the rain will stop enough for her to let the dogs out!!! But were not doing too bad, considering I have now been gone 50 days, covered 480+ miles and only got really wet 3 times!!! We had to stay in the van two nights because it was too wet to put the tents up. So on the whole we are coping quite well!! On Thursday I shall start the Pennine Way. I shall again have to leave Padi and backpack the first couple of days. I'm pretty sure the rain will be waiting for me up there!!! Will let you know!!!
I have been travelling the Borders Abbey way and St Cuthberts Way for a few days now. On the whole well marked footpaths, except where a farmer it would seem has taken down a sign and there was no sight of a path through his crop!!! I am now having a day off in Kelso so I can catch up on computer things. Unfortunately they wont let me plug in my computer so I cant download photos at the moment, afraid you'll have to wait for those!!! We are struggling for decent camping spots. We were told that people camp at the beginning of the Pennine Way!!! Well, we thought we put up with sheep before, it's just a matter of keeping Ben away from the poo and the ticks away from the dogs!! But that was nothing compared to being woken up in the morning by cows bellowing right outside your tent and leaving behind another delicacy that Ben would loved to have tried!!! We even tried the only campsite in Kirk Yetholm (the YHA dont accept dogs!!). They not only were going to charge us for the two tents and dogs, but £12 a night for the camper van (even when on their price list it said £11!!)
