How could I come from romania and not stop in hungary? I was hoping to see the town I lived in as the train came through, but we took a southern arc and we missed it. it was good enough to see that flat countryside again, the puszta! I stayed in budapest for three nights, mostly so I could just go to restaurants and order all the food I have missed. Well, mission accomplished. I walked the streets savouring langos, palicsenta, and galuska. I took a day trip to szentendre which was super touristy and rainy, but still was mellow to sit by the danube. It was really nice to be back there, even though I didn't live in budapest, just seeing people with their wicker shopping baskets and and chewing on sunflower seeds brought back lots of good memories.
decided to make things more exciting and took the hydrofoil up the danube to vienna. It wasn't crowded, so it was super relaxing being in that high speed tube.
