I woke up and thought, this is going to be one of the most pain in the neck days of my trip.  I managed to get myself way into the north of Portugal, into Geres, the town next to the country´s only national park.  I heard this was a great place to do some walks.  So, here I was.  The problem is while travelling is that while you are trying to enjoy where you are, you are always worried about the next step, for example, how am I going to get out of here?  The plan in my head was to go from here to Spain, this town is only a stone´s throw from  the border, so I figured it would be easy...I was wrong of course.  To get out I would have to go back down and around and wait and sleep.... basically a pain.  So I went to breakfast kind of grumpy and stressed, went on and on in Spanish to the Portuguese speaking hostess about how I could get to Spain.  These two nice guys sat down next to me, we started talking, and wouldn´t you know, they were going to Spain that day, and also were planning on doing the same hike.  They invited me along with them which was incredibly nice and my cruddy day turned into a really fun adventure!
The crew was Edward (Portuguese/English, he saved me from my horrible Spanish) his brother- in -law Fernando (from Bilbao, very patient with my horrible Spanish), and Joao, (expecting a baby tomorrow) the cousin from Braga who met us in the parking lot while popping a wheelie on his road bike. We hiked all day, on real paths and made up ones, got worn out, had a great baccalhau lunch (dried salted cod) and headed up to Vigo in Spain, where Edward´s wife so nicely set me up in a hostel.  I woke up early the next morning and was on the bus (all day!) to Bilbao.
Muito obrigado, and muchisimos gracias to everyone who made my day so great.
