*This evening, Brent is guest-writing*

We both slept so well Monday night and it was hard getting up this morning. For breakfast we had a fruit parfait, eggs Benedict, and scones.  Gourmet! :)  We dined with the new guests from The Netherlands, and they are nice to talk to.  We saw them two other times today, both in Banff at lunchtime, and Canmore at dinnertime.

After breakfast, we headed to Banff and started with a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain  http://www.explorerockies.com/banff-gondola/ .  I believe we had perfect timing because when we stepped off the gondola near the summit, it began to snow.  We enjoyed some flurries for about 15 minutes- and even saw a "snowbow."  Then the sun came out, and we could see Banff town and miles beyond.

After returning to the mountain base, we checked out some hot springs called the "Cave and Basin" where a certain snail lives only in Banff.  We then had lunch at Tony Roma's in Banff and looked around at severals stores.

After lunch, we did some driving on some less-traveled roads around Banff.  We had been disappointed for most of Sunday and Monday because we hadn't seen much wildlife.  Today, we got to see some action.  On one of the far-flung dirt roads, we first saw a coyote pup from about 100 yards.  We took some pictures, then continued a few feet up the road.  Then we saw an adult coyote darting around.  I began taking pictures of it, when Becca noticed a group of elk to the right of the coyote.  It was several adult elk, and probably two baby elk.

For the next several minutes, we witnessed an interaction between at least two adult coyotes and the elk.  It looked like the coyotes were trying to isolate the baby elk, but an adult elk was continually chasing the coyotes away.  It semmed the elk and coyotes basically ignored us, and focused on each other.  We eventually left the scene, but they were still chasing each other around.

We then hiked a short trail along the river in Banff.  After that, we headed back to Canmore.  Becca saw a black bear on the side of the road.

When we got back to the B and B, Becca immediately hit the bed for a 15 minute nap.  We walked into town and had a late dinner at the Grizzly Paw :)  Good day!
