Where I stayed
We ate breakfast at our lodge with a couple from Germany. We had salmon and egg croissants, apple strudel muffins, and caramelize fruit. Our host is an excellent cook. She packed the extra muffins for us to take on our hike.
We drove to Banff and did the Johnston Canyon trail. http://www.johnstoncanyon.com/index.htm The link is to the Resort near the trail. We were able to hike the whole path and back without getting rained on. We saw a lot of beautiful waterfalls and cascades. The only wildlife we saw was chipmunks and large ravens. No bears yet. :)
The rain started as we headed back. We drove around Banff but it was very crowded so we decided to grab lunch in Canmore. In Canmore we shared a Reuben at the Drake Inn and Pub http://www.drakeinn.com/ then toured the Canmore Museum. http://www.cmags.org/ Brent needed shaving cream and beer so we stopped at our local grocery store. http://www.sobeys.com/choose-your-province?destination=/
We enjoyed our beer while we soaked in the hot tub back at our lodge. The couple from Germany left today and another couple arrived from the Netherlands.
We drove around the Nordic Centre Park and up the mountain a little. We finally saw wildlife! We saw a family of mountain goats and a deer on the way back down. We drove into town and ate at the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. http://www.rockymountainflatbread.ca/ It was really good. We split a pizza - half sun dried tomatoes w/ goat cheese and half fire roasted vegetable. As we were leaving the restaurant we discovered more wildlife in the city. Rabbits! We saw four adult rabbits and 2 babies. So cute. They must be like cats for them.
We did a lot of stuff today and I believe we both will sleep very well.
