we woke up in Wyoming again, then cruised into Salt Lake City.

SLC was a place we planned on hitting.  I always wanted to see the city and Vanessa saw a Diners, Drive Inns and Dives episode featuring the Mexican food of the Red Iguana, a Salt Lake favorite.

As we pulled in, the rain hit and continued.  So instead of walking around the city, we drove around a bit before lunch.  We saw the Church of Latter Day Saints and what looked to be a cool city.  It has a rail system running through downtown so we could have dropped the truck of and rolled, but the rain took the fun out that idea so we went to lunch.

Lunch was awesome.  The Red Iguana specializes in mole sauces.  Their made with bunches of chilies and veggies and the classic ones have chocolate in them.  Vanessa got the classic one over chicken, I got a pumpkin seed-based mole.  Both were great.  We were pretty excited about this meal and afraid of getting too full before we could get all we wanted, so we ordered enchiladas to go.  As we ordered, our friendly waiter was a little taken a-back when we both ordered our meals and then our to go's, then Vanessa spilled the beans about our trip and her mole excitement.  She such a tourist!:)

We rested our stomachs (and contemplated napping in the parking lot) before hitting the road.  We stopped at the salt flats which looks like a lake of snow in the desert.  We drove to Elko through the pre-desert.  It stormed in the desert here, for real ya know.  We are five hours outside of Reno, tomorrows destination, and it is thunder storming and hailing, with quick breaks of sunshine before another round of storms.

now in Nevada for the night, we decided to do this entry tomorrow, just chill and go to bed early, but I began to think that it was extremely bright for 9:00.  Vanessa picked up her phone and we realized that we passed through into the Pacific time.   So that extra hour gave us the time to keep you up to date.
