I have been planning this Costa Rica Trip for several months. Having not taken a vacation in a long time and in desperate need of one. I looked at destinations that I think would be affordable and had some adventure. Costa Rica popped out while I was looking at volunteer work in Central America. It looked like a nice tropical place so I figure...why not.

I had mapped out my intended route, checked hostels, cost for renting vehicle etc so I had idea of my expenditure. I also asked several friends if they would join. Someone said they would and I was more than happy as it would be fun to have a companion and also the cost burden could be shared!

I guess my adventure started earlier than anticipated as I had last minute flight plans. My initial flight to MIA and the SJO had to be changed because the MIA flight was full and thats what happens when you are on Standby! I took a midnight flight to JFK and then had to get a flight to MIA. This is where the insanity started to happen. I checked in to the MIA flight out of JFK (Standby ofcourse!). They made my check in the Carry on! When I did not make the flight I went back to get the bag which I was informed went to MIA! Well, spent all day at JFK trying to get on a flight and that was not happening! I was tired by then because I worked the Wednesday, found out I had to fly Wednesday night and I was stuck all day thursday in an airport with no clothes. Eventually, I bougth the a ticket for the last flight To MIA because I already missed the Costa RIca flight for Thursday and this was setting my vacation plans back! I was assured my Bag was in MIA! NP I get there around 9pm and went to get my Bag! Low and behold! NO BAG. It was nowhere to be found! I was dumbfounded by then. Anyway, I made a baggage complaint and was informed to check back in the Morning. Its close to midnight...I spend money for a bathe and bed at the terminal hotel and check for my bag next morn. Still nothing...I was losing my nerves and was determined not to miss my flight. Eventually, I was called to the back and asked if I saw my bag which I responded NO! THe gentleman pointed to a bag that corresponded to the tag on my ticket! NO SIR...definitly not my BAG!!! I don't recall having Duct Tape on it, nor three holes at each corner, or Tyre Tracks on it!!! My bag looked like the airplane ran over it...and I was so awed..i didn't even take a picture!

Well, it looks like that should be the end of my series of mishpaps....but OH NO folks...no no no...when I eventually got to checkin at the CR flight I was...happy! Yes...room on the plane..im getting on!!! YEAH....or....wait...madam.....we cant find your ticket! WHAT...thats impossible...here's my tickets. No MAM...its not showing up on our computers. I said...Listen Lady, I am getting on that PLANE. You better find my ticket because I listed for this flight last night while your airline lost my BAgs! Shes say...nope looks like you wont' be getting on...and they close the doors. Tears are about ready to roll out of my eyes! I am beaten....and then she says....OH WAIT, I think I got something....Open the doors for her!

And that folks was the Start to my Vacation!!!!

I finally made it, and stayed a few days in Alajuela. My friend and I got the the vehicle on Saturday and started our first drive to ARENAL.
